Tournaments – Group Formats
The Group and Tournament Golf Program at Tregaron offers the finest in service and Detail. Utilizing our Professional staff in the set-up of your event is sure to enhance your golfing experience. The following services are included in tournament packages:
- Golf carts set up with players’ names, starting times and tee assignments
- Information on each cart detailing tournament information and flag prizes
- Flag prize markers prepared and set up on the course
- Scorecards collected and scores calculated
- Flag Prize markers collected and winners posted
- Tournament winners determined and posted
- Result recap given to the event coordinator with all winners listed
- Tournament results posted to our website
Choose between these golfing formats
Straight Golf
Traditional golf with each player playing their own ball and adhering to the tournament and USGA Rules of golf.
Scramble
A very popular team format conducive to faster play and group interaction. Each player hits his tee shot, and the team picks the best shot of the group. The others then move to that position and hit their shots, once again moving their balls to the best position. This procedure continues until the ball is holed out, and one team score is posted for the hole. A scramble should be favored when there are players of various skill levels within your group.

Flag Prizes
Closest to the Pin:
Played on par 3 holes, the winner is the player whose shot is closest to the hole at the completion of play. A marker on the green is moved appropriately when a shot is hit closer than the previous best shot.
Longest Drive:
Players attempt to hit the longest tee shot. A marker in the fairway is moved each time a drive is hit further than the previous position of the marker.
Longest Putt:
Players compete to make the longest putt measured from the hole to the place putted from. A marker on the green is moved to a new position when a player makes a longer putt than the previous longest putt.
Shortest Drive:
The name speaks for itself as players try (not) to have the shortest tee shot, usually on the 1st tee or 10th tee.
Miscellaneous:
Many other flag prizes and contests are available, either variations of the above or totally different. Contact our PGA Professional staff for additional options.
Circles:
Circles of various diameters may be placed on the greens of par three holes. Golfers may purchase a chance to try and hit their shot within the circle for prizes.
Tournament – Preparation / Terms & Conditions
Weather/Rebooking Policy
We will not cancel an event based on the forecast, rebooking will not be made until the day of your event.
Golf Event Worksheet
Please complete, sign, and return a golf event worksheet (included in packet) to the Golf Shop thirty (30) days prior to your event date.
Specialty / Logo Item Orders
Orders for specialty and logo merchandise should be placed with the Golf Shop thirty (60) days prior to your event date.
Final Players’ List
A final list of golf pairings and player names should be submitted to the Golf Shop four (4) days prior to your event date.
Signage
Any course signage for your event must be free standing and approved by the Head Professional. All necessary standards, stakes or ropes must be provided by the group. Tregaron’s staff will facilitate signage on the course. Signage should be delivered 24 hours in advance of your event.
Keep Pace Policy
Tregaron strictly adheres to a KEEP PACE policy for the enjoyment of all golfers on the course. Please alert your group that all rounds must be played in no more than 4 1/2 hours. Rangers are on the course to assist players to play and have fun.
Golf Shop
Special orders for any items with your organizations logo, including golf balls, shirts, hats, golf towels and golf bags will be happily accommodated. Please call the Golf Shop in advance for price quotes and to place your order. Tregaron Gift Cards are available in any denomination; these make great prizes as the golfer may choose from a variety of items in the Golf Shop.
